Electrical work undertaken The batteries on this beautiful Rustler 31 had become heavily sulphated after long periods without proper charging. The owner relied on solar and a wind generator, which had stopped delivering power. I repaired the wind generator by replacing broken brushes and then installed a full shore-power system with a reverse polarity indicator panel and protected by an RCBO. Two separate 240v circuits were added, each protected by MCBs. I fitted a new 3-pin socket and dual-bank battery charger, to ensure reliable battery maintenance whilst in the marina. It was a pleasure working as a marine electrician on this classic sailing yacht.
